熊亚平新著《华北铁路沿线集镇的"差异化发展"(1881-1937)》分别从宏观和微观两个层面,展现不同类型和不同层级的铁路沿线与非铁路沿线集镇在不同时期的"差异化发展",从华北集镇变动的整体面相上扩展城镇史研究内容,从比较视角中揭示出华北冀鲁豫三省铁路沿线集镇发展的差异化态势及其"两极化发展"的特征,并在集镇群体发展的兴衰变动中深化铁路与集镇发展关系的认识。激发了研读者对华北集镇发展动力、近代铁路功能、集镇变迁的时空差异等问题的思考。

Promoting the Study of the History of Market Towns in Modern North China from a Comparative Perspective——Review on The Differential Development of Market Towns along the North China Railways(1881-1937)

Abstract:
The Differential Development of Market Towns along the North China Railway (1881-1937) written by Xiong Ya-ping embodies the "differential development" of different types and different levels of towns along the railway and the non-railway in different periods from the macro and micro levels. The book expands the contents of urban history research from the overall level of the market town's changes in North China. From a comparative perspective it reveals the different situation of the development and the characteristics of their "polarization development" of market towns along the railways in Hebei, Shandong and Henan provinces. It also deepens the understanding of the relationship between railways and market towns in the rise and fall of the development of market towns. It stimulates the readers to think about the motive force of the development of market towns in North China, the functions of modern railways, and the temporal and spatial differences of the changes of market towns.
