20世纪30年代，中华平民教育促进会主导的定县实验引起社会各界广泛的关注。聚集在《独立评论》周围的知识精英出于强烈的现实关怀，以自身所见所闻描述了定县实验，并基于各自认识发表不同看法。一些知识精英认为定县实验有益于乡村改造民族复兴，另一些知识精英则指出定县实验内容偏离国情，甚至不乏言辞激烈完全否定者。通过知识精英的争论，可以看出平教会定县实验乡村改造实践的相关得失，亦对于现今的乡村社会现代化建设有所启示。
Ding County Experiment in the View of Intellectual Elites in the 1930s——Centered on The Independent Review

Abstract:
In the 1930 s, Ding County experiment by the Chinese Civilian Education Promotion Association aroused widespread concern in the community. The intellectual elites gathered around The Independent Review, out of their intense concern for reality, described the content of Ding County experiments in their own eyes and made different opinions based on their own respective opinions. Some elite intellectuals think Ding County experiment is good for rural reconstruction of national rejuvenation, while other elites point out that the contents of Ding County experiment deviate from national conditions. There are even some opinions with intense words and complete negation. Through the debates among the elites, we can see the relative gains and losses of rural reconstruction in Ding County experiment by the Chinese Civilian Education Promotion Association, which as well has implications for the modernization of rural society today.
