《梅的梦》是缅甸著名女作家加尼觉玛玛礼于1955年创作的短篇小说，小说讲述了女孩丁玛蕾将一个关于马的梦告知了老妇杜勒，杜勒借此梦开始赛马赚钱，但贪婪的杜勒靠赛马获得的财富最终如梦幻泡影般消散。小说情节简练，塑造了单纯善良的丁玛蕾和强势贪婪的杜勒两个典型的女性形象，通过比较二者在家庭观、婚姻观、金钱观等方面的异同，展现了新时代女性的性格特征和命运抉择。
An Analysis of the Female Portrayal in May’s Dream of Journal Kyaw Ma Ma Lay

Abstract:
May’s Dream is a short novel written by the well-known Burmese female writer Journal Kyaw Ma Ma Lay in 1955 . The novel tells the story of a girl named Tin Ma Lay, who narrates her dream about a horse to an old woman named Daw Le. Based on her interpretation of the dream, Daw Le begins gambling on horse racing and winning bets. However, the wealth gained by greedy Daw Le through horse racing eventually vanishes like a dream bubble. The plot of the novel is concise, portraying two typical female characters: the innocent and kind Tin Ma Lay and the strong and greedy Daw Le. The study attempts to analyze the portrayal of the female protagonist in the novel from her perspectives on family, marriage, and money, in order to have a comprehensive and profound understanding of Journal Kyaw Ma Ma Lay’s female literary creation.
